Petersen

In September of 2006 we began a addition/remodel for Shaun & Laurie Petersen of Haverhill, MA. Sean & Laurie had been looking at new homes in town with potential for an in-law apartment. Laurie's father was ill and she wanted her parents to move in with her so she could help care for her father. Because the cost of new houses was very high and her mother was hesitant to leave her home, we were asked to put together plans to remodel her parents' home and build an addition for the Petersen family. Lauries parents lived in a cottage-style home in Haverhill on a large parcel of land. The house was positioned to the left of the lot leaving enough area to attach a large two story addition. The original home was 18’6 x 50’0 front to back with a second floor dormer in the front.

We began the project by constructing the addition, a 28’0 x 38’0 two story colonial with garage under and a finished walk-up attic.  Attached to the rear of the colonial we built a 12’0 x 16’0 sunroom with a workshop under at the garage levee addition.  We then attached the two structures with a two story connector with a mud room on the first floor and a bedroom on the second floor. We built a hip roof on the connector to tie the two buildings together aesthetically. The newly remodeled home was built for handicap accessability. The washer and dryer were relocated from the basement to the living space and all interior doors are wide enough for wheelchair use.
