Company History

Home Energy Consultants, established in 1979 by John Call, places an energy focus on the home-improvement business started by John in 1974. Over the past twenty-three years, we have worked as building designers, energy consultants, builders, and remodelers.

We have designed and built both single- and multi-family homes. As home improvement contractors, we have built and designed solar rooms and additions, installed blown-in insulation, ventilation, replacement windows and doors, primary windows, and bow and bay windows for private clients. We have worked in conjunction with many non-profit and government agencies such as Mass-Save, Massachusetts Executive Office of Energy Resources, Bay State Gas Con-Serv Division, Community Energy Partnership, and Mass Executive Office of Communities and Development. This involvement has led to the insulating and weatherizing of thousands of low-income homes and municipal housing units. Since 1991, we have been affiliated with the Massachusetts Electric, Boston Gas, and Bay State Gas DSM (demand side management) insulation programs. Through the DSM programs, we have upgraded the insulation, ventilation and heating systems of the utilities' customer

Through our contracts with public and private entities and home improvement work, we have been able to expand our business to over one million dollars per year. Despite the demand of our DSM contracts, we have still found time to service our private customers. We would like to reassure our customers that we fully commit our efforts and resources to the residential remodeling market, specifically in energy-efficient additions, family rooms, and solar rooms.

To give our customers the service they demand, we provide computer-generated building plans and estimates. This enables us to keep all of our building designs in house and to smooth the transition between estimate and design. Thus, we can offer what our competition cannot — remodeling and building estimates and preliminary plans within one week. This ability and our strength in the design of energy-efficient structures provide our customers with state-of-the-art remodeling, "remodeling for the 21st century."
